where do you see ryan stovall as a prospect

Ryan Stovall is an interesting guy. He is a 2009 draft pick but will be turning 24 in December and was a little old for the Appy League. This could prove to be something that holds him back in the long run. If we look at his career in terms of success, what do we measure it by? Considering he’s from an NAIA school and won a Player of the Year award in the minors, some would say it has been a success already even though he’s only played two years.

I saw Ryan play in Wilmington last year making a replacement start for Hosmer while he was at the Futures Game. Even though his last name wasn’t on his jersey, it didn’t stop him from playing hard. Although you can’t get an entire career view from one game, he played very hard and seemed fairly athletic. Ryan is a career .280 hitter with a 21% strikeout rate and a walk rate of 7% has a chance. I would like to see the K rate and BB rate even themselves out a little but he had an incredible year for the Burlington Royals. As a prospect, he has a lot of guys in front of him and has to do something this year to get noticed and possibly get to Wilmington by starting off hot at Kane County (assuming he starts there).
